The UNLSA together with Hall & Wilcox hosted a Charity Trivia Night supporting the Grow A Star program, which helps disadvantaged youth achieve their full potential. The trivia night had a strong turnout and was a hit with students and Hall & Wilcox staff alike.
Carroll & O'Dea Lawyers sponsored the UNLSA team in the annual Law v Med rugby game. The UNLSA put in a strong performance and gave the medicine students a run for their money, sporting jerseys provided by Carroll & O'Dea.
Allens, Ashurst, Clayton Utz, and Herbert Smith Freehills sponsored the UNLSA Penultimate Trip to Sydney. Newcastle students visited each firm and spoke with lawyers, graduates, and early careers representatives to learn about what programs were offered and what a typical day at that firm looked like. The trip won and award for 'Best Careers Initiative' at the 2024 Australian Law Students' Association national conference.
Each year a number of law firms descend on NuSpace campus for the UNLSA's annual Careers Expo. Students and firms were able to network and discuss opportunities that are available to future graduates.
