Hollie Hughes
Hi there and congratulations on studying at Newcastle Law School in 2022! My name is Hollie and I am currently in my final year of a Bachelor of Laws/Diploma of Legal Practice and am thrilled to be leading the amazing UNLSA Committee this year.
The UNLSA exists to enrich student life, offering many fantastic opportunities and initiatives which cater to the needs and interests of all of our members.
We have a number of exciting and valuable events coming up this year and I’m looking forward to engaging with our members to ensure that the UNLSA continues to support and promote the interests of law students in a genuine and beneficial way.

Vice President: Administration
Victoria Gill
I am currently in my final year of the Law / Diploma program and am excited to work with the new UNLSA team in 2022. My experience with the Association over the past two years has highlighted the importance of an adaptable and functional student representative committee and I would encourage my peers to become actively involved within the many facets that the UNLSA has to offer.

Vice President: Sponsorship
Thomas McCarthy
I am currently in my Third Year of Study and I am incredibly passionate about our sponsorships and the work we do in the Sponsorship portfolio. I look forward to collaborating and working alongside our sponsors as their first port of call for all matters Sponsorship in 2022.
Furthermore, I am delighted to be working alongside the Directors of Careers and Director of Local Sponsorship as we work to strive for our students to be afforded every opportunity to engage with all our partners, events and programmes available.
Overall, with the mission to support our students to thrive in their technical knowledge, and practical experience for the whole of their legal education and holistically as a forthcoming graduate.

Vice President: Competitions
Sarah Otton
Hi! My name is Sarah and I am currently in my final year of Law! I’m excited to have a great year of competitions, and get back to running some events face-to-face. These competitions are a great way to meet new like-minded people, learn some new skills as well as to boost your resume.
My goal for this year will be to increase participation across all year levels. We’ve had a very isolating few years, and it’s so important to start connecting again now. We are also changing things up this year with the introduction of a Criminal Law Moot for our Senior Mooting Competition! This will be an exciting opportunity for students to learn new advocacy skills.

Hi everyone! my name is Lauren and i'm currently in my fourth year of law.
I am super passionate about digital and social media marketing, and I am excited to work alongside the marketing portfolio to promote the amazing work of the UNLSA in 2022.
The last few years have demonstrated the importance of online connections, and I hope that this year we can further establish the social media presence of the law association, and continue to connect to law students around Australia.

Lucas Dowling
Hi Everyone, my name's Lucas Dowling and I'm the Vice-President of Education for the UNLSA for 2022!
Myself and the Education Portfolio are excited to host a range of events, focussing on ensuring our law students are well equipped to succeed in Law School. Stay tuned for 'Law School Skills Sessions' at the start of both Semester 1 and 2 to help with the essential skills for your time at Newcastle Law School! Vice President: Finance

Hi there,
As Vice President of Finance, I am responsible for the financial transactions, budgeting, and ongoing financial reporting of the Association. I am currently studying my combined LLB and Innovation and Entrepreneurship program. This is also my second time studying at the University of Newcastle obtaining my Bachelor of Commerce over 10 years ago.
I currently own businesses in the local area and hold a position as a voting member on an investment committee. I am super excited to bring my experience to the UNLSA table and be involved in this organisation.
If I can be of any help to any law student, please reach out as I am always here to be part of a support network or just lend a sympathetic ear.

Bianca Necovski
My name is Bianca and I am the Vice President of Events for 2022. I will be in charge of running a variety of events throughout the year such as Law Ball, Valedictorian Dinner and Charity Trivia.
My role also involves helping out the other portfolios when needed. I am excited to to organise a range of in person events for our members, and I can't wait to see your friendly faces throughout the year.

Vice President: Indigenous Affairs
Jasmin L'Green
My name is Jasmin L'Green and I am a proud Kuungkari woman living, working and studying on Awabakal land in Newcastle.
I grew up on Worimi Country in Gloucester and relocated to Newcastle in 2018 to begin my combined Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/ Development Studies degree and am currently in my final year.
My role as the VP (Indigenous Students) involves representing the interests and concerns of Indigenous students in the Law School and distributing information about opportunities available to Indigenous students. I am so excited to be in this role and am looking forward to meeting some more Indigenous law students.

Hi everyone! I am the returning Director of Competitions (Intervarsity) for 2022, and I am excited to combine my passion and knowledge to assist other students with getting involved in prestigious intervarsity competitions.
I am a final year law student with a wealth of experience in intervarsity competitions, particularly those in dispute resolution. I truly believe that competitions are some of the most valuable learning and networking opportunities offered at law school, and I am feeling positive about the wide range of intervarsity options for 2022.

Law Revue Convenor
Lauren Devine
Hi everyone! My name is Lauren Devine, and I am the Law Revue Convenor for 2022. I am a second year LLB student and I am so excited to put together a fun and creative show this year! My role is to oversee the production and make sure that everything runs smoothly. I am so excited to participate in and produce my first Law Revue and I can’t wait to bring out the creative side of so many of my peers.
This year I want to put on a show that is strong and joyful after last year’s revue being cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns and bring back the magic of pre-2020 theatre. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or want to get involved either on-stage or off!

Hi, my name is Lauren and I am a 3rd year law student. In 2022 I have the pleasure of being UNLSA's Director of Social Justice.
As part of this role I will host a number of events, such as the social justice forum, which will focus on bringing awareness and promoting discussion around a number of social issues.
I am excited and honoured to be taking on this role as social justice is an issue that I am particularly passionate about and is a core reason for my pursuit of a career within the legal profession.

Jayanna Gibson
Hi there! I’m Jayanna, a fourth-year law student who has the pleasure of being the UNLSA’s Director of IT. I’ve joined the UNLSA Committee to assist in strengthening the online climate that we, as emerging legal practitioners, rely on to collaborate in 2022.
Alongside the Marketing Portfolio, I aim to ensure that our online interactions are seamless and productive. My contribution is mainly centred around the UNLSA website (https://www.unlsa.com/), the utilisation of QPay and solving any technological hiccups along the way.

Director of Sport & Recreation
Zachary Norgard
My name is Zachary Norgard, and I am the Director of Sport and Recreation for the UNLSA in 2022. I have been a member of the UNLSA since beginning my degree in 2017 and since that time I have been an active participant in many of the UNLSA’s sporting and social events.
I have always been passionate about sport and I enjoy playing rugby union, tennis, soccer, cricket and everything in between. I am always available and keen to have a chat if you have any questions regarding UNLSA or Uni sport.

Indigenous Student Representative
Aleisha Bailey
My name is Aleisha Bailey, I am 20 years old, a 3rd year law student and a proud Wiradjuri woman. Coming from a large family, I know the value of hard work and the importance of a helping hand. I pride myself on being a person who goes out of my way to make sure everyone feels heard and welcomed and can trust me with any thoughts or vulnerabilities they may
have.
My career and life goals are to fight with my community and to help Indigenous people take up the space and time that is needed to make real and meaningful change and to increase access to justice for Indigenous people. I hope to use my position to create a more open space for Indigenous students to speak their minds to UNLSA so that their UON law school experience is culturally safe, memorable and joyful.

Director of Publications
Tyler Bridges
My main contribution to the UNLSA is the design of the variety of documents, such as the clerkship guide, that the UNLSA put out. The aim of my role is to make these documents appealing, accessible, professional and to have a little flare where I can. My vision for my time at the UNLSA is to be able to create a model of design to make these documents accessible for all students and to make the creation of these are easy and fun as possible for those who come into the role after me.

Disability Student Representative
Joseph Popov
My name is Joseph Popov. I am in my last year of a Bachelor of Laws/Diploma of Legal Practice. As a person who has cerebral palsy and is hearing impaired, I understand some of the issues facing people with disabilities. I also acknowledge that no disability is the same.
My career goal is to better the lives of people with disabilities, especially in relation to inclusive employment. This passion is reflected in my involvement as a legal intern at 'Ignite HR and Employment Law' as well as undertaking a Graduate Certificate of Workforce Diversity and Inclusion. I hope to utilise my position as the UNLSA disability student representative to create positive employment and education outcomes for people with disabilities studying law.

Hello all! My name is Maddie and I am a third year Law / Criminology student! My role as the Director of Merchandise is to create merchandise that Newcastle law students will be proud of, and will want to show off to others! University is such a formative and exciting time, and association merchandise remains a fantastic way to connect with your peers, show others a bit about who you are, and hold onto a keepsake for years to come. My goal in my time as the Director of Merchandise is to collaborate with quality (and ethical!) suppliers to provide a diverse and cohesive merchandise line for the UNLSA.
