Director of Competitions: Advocacy
Hi everyone! We are Isabella and Alexander, and are the 2023 Director of Competitions for Advocacy. We look forward to meeting you all and working with you throughout the competition's journey. We’re second year law students and strongly believe in the role the UNLSA plays in providing opportunities for the law school at UON.
We became friends through mooting in our first year and we want to give others the opportunity to have this experience and make new friendships too. Therefore, we have many fun events planned for throughout the year. We have highly valued the experiences and knowledge we have gained through the UNLSA competitions and are happy to welcome you to an exciting 2023. We can’t wait to share our passion and knowledge with everyone, don’t hesitate to contact us!
Throughout my time at Newcastle University, I have very much enjoyed my time studying at the Newcastle Law School. While studying in Newcastle the UNLSA has provided me with an outlet to continue to grow and gain more knowledge and opportunities to further my passion for studying law. Through the UNLSA competitions and events I have been able to do this by participating in competitions which are designed to make the law practical and fun in a supportive community. Extending the value of my studies immensely into a social and practical environment which enables me to feel more confident in the real world.
I am a Newcastle local and can understand how hard it can be to meet people and students outside of our community especially as others move away to seek other opportunities. Through UNLSA competitions you will be able to meet new people and expand your interest in studying law. I highly recommend that any first year or ongoing UON law students get involved in the UNLSA as it does enable you to meet new people who have shared interest in the legal profession and puts you on a path to get more out of your time at UON.
I am very thankful to be given this opportunity to work with the UNLSA as a co-director of (advocacy) with Isabella Clapham. To all those thinking of getting involved in competitions I highly recommend it as it will pay you dividends in lifelong experiences and career opportunities.
